News / Alba goes green
Just to prove that pampered Hollywood life ain't all stretch Hummers and Koala-cheek casseroles, Jessica Alba has revealed she's gone green at home.
Taking a break from her shoot with American Vogue, the ethically-minded actress told all about her eco-makeover in a video diary. Changes she's made around the place include replacing all her grass with a recycled tyre substitute -- because it saves watering the lawn in the hot, dry and water-poor West coast climate.
She's also big into composting, bunging all her household green waste into a unit in the garden instead of sending it to landfill -- or to be reused as gag material in the next Farrelly Brothers movie.

Alba's organic lifestyle extends to her favourite jeans lines -- like Capital E lines that use organic cottons -- and even toiletries such as organic choices from Lush. Part of her eco-driven ideas have come from motherhood, she says.
"Kids are going to do just about anything--I've seen them put cockroaches in their mouths--so I want to make things as non-toxic as possible, within reason. I'm not going to be a crazy person about it, but I think it's important to be aware of it," she reveals.
